September

Aidan is ALMOST walking--He took some serious alone steps the other day and is trying. He loves to run between Matt and I. I am really excited for this stage, although I wish he could talk and tell me what he wants. I wouldn't mind hauling him around if I knew I was going where he wanted to go. Stay tuned for updates! Here is a short clip I captured the other day--its dark, sorry!

We leave for PA on Saturday for a week with my parents. I am really excited to see them and they are really excited to see "their boy." Isn't that the way that once you have kids, you no longer matter to your parents? ha! Matt and I will be venturing away for a couple of days kid free, which is incredibly exciting. Long leisurely meals, without anyone begging for food or me having to cut up anyone elses food but my own; sleeping in; adult conversation, yeah!

I took Aidan to the barber yesterday...it went pretty well. We have had his haircut twice before at a kid's hair salon, but I will tell you, I just cannot justify spending $20 on a baby's haircut...its a total rip. So, we tried the regular barber and the guy we went to was totally a good sport. He could have went a bit faster, but ultimately did a great job. There are a couple of straggler long hairs, but its ok. Here is Aidan with his para-military haircut (Matt goes to the same place, and I think the guy only knows one way to cut hair- SUPER short). I still think he looks cute though, even without his little curls.

Stay tuned for an update on the PA trip...

Blogging

So, I decided I should start a blog...well at least I decided that I will give it a try. I have newly joined Facebook and that totally addictive, so I thought that maybe this would be one more thing to try out. Because I have so much free time to do these things...but anyways.

My little man Aidan is totally charming the pants off everyone he meets these days, much as he has from the beginning. We are still working on walking... the mechanics are all there, but we need to gain some confidence to let go of the couch, mom, ride-on, stroller, etc.

My almost 15 month old son is obsessed with the computer- he loves to type, i.e. bang the keys, so much so that the arrow keys no longer work. We have found some good kid websites that we spend a lot of time on- Nick Jr. playtime; Sesame Street; Reading is Fundamental; Noggin; Boohbah...the list goes on. Matt and I are also rediscovering our youth with classic clips of the Muppet Show on You Tube. Aidan is a huge fan of Beaker's Ode to Joy.

The weather has turned cooler here in NY, which is good. The sweltering summer with all the concrete makes it hard to go anywhere. At least for me, since I hate the heat, and my son is not a fan either. We have discovered that Aidan is a total water baby and is obsessed with the sprinklers at the park and swimming. I long for our own yard to play in, but I digress.

Aidan and I walked to the library yesterday to return some books. Our library is closed for renovation for two years, so we headed to the next closest branch, which is about 2 1/2 miles roundtrip. As it was a typical Brooklyn outing, we met some interesting characters along the way. My favorite was the man at the library who was staring at Aidan. I asked him if he was sleeping and walked around the stroller to look at Aidan. The man said oh, is he sleeping? So I said, nope he's awake. Good thing since we walked a long way to get here. The guy then said, and I quote, "well, he was up late last night you know." I was like, um, ok, thinking to myself- elevator needs to come NOW. Ah, Brooklyn. Got to love it.

So, hopefully I can keep this updated and interesting. I will try to update often...might be a good way to remember some of the things that happen day to day.
